Mogale City’s DA mayor Tyrone Gray has been removed through a motion of no confidence, just hours after a court ordered the reinstatement of 40 ANC and EFF councillors, who had been fired by the council’s speaker.
The same speaker, Jacqueline Pannall, is expected to be next on the chopping block.
The ANC/EFF alliance were supported by the ATM, who helped them get 43 of the 77 votes to remove the mayor.
34 councillors from the ACDP, IFP, FF+ and PAC had voted against the motion to remove Gray.
