No fewer than 10 students of Government Day Secondary School in Awon, Kachia LGA of Kaduna State have been reportedly.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday, Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, said the students were kidnapped on Monday.

Aruwan said the preliminary report received by the State Government did not confirm whether the students were kidnapped in the school or outside.

The commissioner said that the State Government is waiting for further information on where the abduction took place.

“The Kaduna State Government has received preliminary reports from security agencies on the kidnapping of about 10 students in Kachia LGA”, the statement reads.

“According to the preliminary reports, the students of Government Secondary School, Awon (a day secondary school) were kidnapped on Monday.

“The exact location of the incident is yet to be ascertained, but detailed reports being awaited will clarify whether the incident occurred within the school premises or elsewhere.

“The government will issue a public statement accordingly when these reports are received.”
