The Bulls have reportedly boosted their second row stocks with the signing of an England international until the end of the season.

According to a report in The Times UK, the Bulls have signed England and Bath lock Charlie Ewels on a short-term deal, after which he will rejoin the Premiership club.

Ewels suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during England’s tour of Australia last June and is now looking to regain his fitness.

The 27-year-old was reportedly close to joining the Stormers, but issues with funding his work visa prevented the move from happening.

Having agreed a deal with the Bulls, Ewels is set to make his debut as soon as Friday, in the Currie Cup clash against the Sharks in Durban.

With 30 Test caps to his name and over 100 appearances for Bath, Ewels will add plenty of experience to what is expected to be a youthful Bulls pack in the Currie Cup.

Ewels has also captained Bath under previous director of rugby Stuart Hooper and was an England regular in the latter stages of Eddie Jones’ tenure.
