ByLwansta is always innovative in getting his music out. One thing he values a lot is a personal connection with his fans.
His latest tactic is to give away four free performances to fans and their groups of friends for year-end gatherings. The series of shows is called Winding Down with ByLwansta and will take place between 14 November and 11 December in Joburg.
Asked what the thinking behind this move is, ByLwantsa told SlikourOnLife:
“Over the last few years, there have been various efforts towards nurturing very personal and meaningful relationships with our community and people who enjoy the music I make and the stories I tell. These have taken the form of being handed the stickers I put out with my releases and I often say, ‘You can only get these from me. This also means we’ve met,’ it’s receipts, it’s a moment locked in time now for both of us.
“Also, the translation of our digital efforts into analog ones like our NORMVL Agenda shows where we all meet and hang out, these really prioritise that mutual connection we have to the music and the stories, so the Winding Down with ByLwansta project is really another one of those. We’re not putting it out for promoters, but people throwing a party with their friends and have access to sound.”
