South African celebrities woke up to the effect of CEO Elon Musk’s decision to take down the verification badge of some Twitter accounts.
The badge isn’t free anymore, hence people pay to retain it.
Cassper Nyovest, Sizwe Dhlomo, Thando Thabethe, Black Coffee, Trevor Noah, and many others have lost their verification badge and it’s garnered reactions from them and many others.
However, many of these celebs seem to be unbothered as they have other serious issues to deal with.
“I’m seeing all these messages about this Blue Tick story. Letsetse le bo putswa. Bona, Elon must understand we have more important issues to worry about mohae. And frankly, we’ve exhausted our “Yhos” in the past few weeks. Twirling into No Blue Tick life, ha monate jwang,” Kgomotso Christopher wrote.
“There’s always been fake accounts. Not really my problem the way I see it. I don’t take Twitter that seriously if I’m being honest, so nah,” Sizwe Dhlomo.
“I’m verified in the streets,” Cass wrote.
Users have to pay $8 (around R145) a month to subscribe to Twitter Blue so they can be verified.
