One artist that I never thought I would be adding to my playlist is upcoming Alternative and R&B singer and songwriter, Rah Punzl. I first discovered her through a DM I received from a friend and the crazy thing a day after, I got a message from her of which I sent my email over so I can check out her current release. To be quite honest she has high potential and based on me listening to her previous work, there has been sturdy growth with her sound and songwriting skills and for that I applaud her work as it shows that she is not comfortable with creating one specific sound for the next year if anything she is very much experimental.
I gave myself time today to rewatch the visuals for ‘Fight No More’ and I was mind blown by the plotted storyline as the visuals and single showcase an individual that is out with their supposed ‘partner’ at a chill-out spot in the youthful streets of Braamfontein but happens to make contact with their full crush of which they seemingly can’t get them out of their head as they are highly in love and have romantic thoughts about the individual. The visuals follow the release of her debut album ‘Purpose’ of which was released in May.
I love the creative direction that they took with the visuals as it best complimented the theme that the artist was initially trying to portray with the single and I feel as if they hit the nail on the head and I cannot wait to see what she serves us in the next coming months.
