Chiefs’ Maart – ‘One love’

“We couldn’t do it without the supporters and my teammates, one love,” Maart told SuperSport TV.

Chiefs are ninth in the Betway Premiership and still face a battle to qualify for next season’s MTN8. But on Saturday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium they could celebrate a fantastic triumph and a first piece of silverware since Stuart Baxter’s Chiefs won the 2014/15 league title.

“Results have not been going our way in the league, but I think today we were collective as a team. We were fighting together, the players had the right mindset. Thanks. to the fans for always coming out and supporting us, this is for them, the chairman, the technical team and for us players.”

Maart doesn’t score many goals, but he hit his left-footed winner sweetly from the edge of the box, after being set up by Ashley Du Preez.

‘I put my eyes on the ball and hit it’

“I can use both feet, and the end of the day … I put my eyes on the ball and hit it and ….goal!

“It was a tough road by we stuck together.”
