Lionel Messi finally got his hands on the World Cup trophy as even a Kylian Mbappe World Cup final hat-trick was not enough to stop Argentina beating France on penalties after an incredible 3-3 draw in Doha.

Messi grabbed two goals himself, including one in the second half of extra time that looked to be sending Argentina to a 3-2 win.

Mzwandile Masina made news headlines this past weekend after he announced on Sunday that he was withdrawing from the Treasurer General race at the 55th African National Congress (ANC) elective conference and supporting Pule Mabe for the position.

The decision came after a series of discussions with ANC leaders from various provinces. 

Speaking to the media in a joint media briefing, Masina explained that the decision was taken to ensure that support is pooled behind one individual.

Load shedding to be reduced ahead of Christmas

Good news! South Africans will be getting a slight reprieve from load shedding next week after Eskom announced that it will be reduced to stage 5 at 5am on Monday.

In a further reduction, load shedding will be moved to stage 4 at 5am on Tuesday and is expected to stay at this level for the rest of the week.

More showers are expected to continue in parts of the country during the next week. This is according to the South African Weather Service which has warned of yet another week of persistent rain.

Forecaster Dipuo Tawana said the probability of rain this coming week is 60%.

“Going into Monday, we’re still expecting isolated showers and thundershowers over Gauteng more so in the afternoons,” she said.
