Out to set us up for a good Summer season is DJ Smokes with his brand new album titled, ‘SUPERLOVE’. The 15 Track album contains features from the likes of TrustedSLK, Ms Cosmo, Bea and Thami, just to name a few. I took time to give the album a listen today as time was just so limited when it dropped.
As I gave the body of work a listen, I was instantly opened up by a skit where Smokes is on a call with a friend and they promise to bring the vibes as they prepare for the wildest Saturday Night of their lives. I was then drawn to hearing on how the story carries on as each track is a continuation of the layered story in the intro. You can tell this by simply reading in the titles of the tracks. You are then taken into an experience where ‘Hennessy’ is involved in a situation where they come back home at 6AM right after hanging out with a group of ladies that love themselves a bottle of ‘Champagne’.
I love the fact that each single has its own element as the sound approach is pretty much versatile. You get to endure on a musical journey from a Hip-Hop vibe to an R&B vibe as well as an ‘Island in Jamaica’ vibe. You will enjoy this project as it prepares you for the best season of the year. Yup, I am talking about the Summer.
