England all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt’s unbeaten 38-ball 72 propelled Mumbai Indians to 182-4 in the eliminator of the inaugural Women’s Premier League against UP Warriorz in Mumbai Friday.

Australian Alyssa Healy’s Warriorz won the toss and asked Mumbai to bat first. The winner of the match will face Delhi Capitals in the final at the Brabourne Stadium in the same city on Sunday. The Warriorz kept Mumbai on a tight leash with both openers Yastika Bhatia (21) and Hayley Matthews (26) — failing to convert their starts to a bigger score.

Sciver-Brunt stabilised the innings with India and Mumbai captain Harmanpreet Kaur as the duo pushed the score past 100 in the 13th over.

Kaur fell to Sophie Ecclestone in the same over after a 15-ball 14 before Sciver-Brunt unleashed her power hitting with Amelia Kerr, who hit a 19-ball 29. A 4-ball 11 cameo by Pooja Vastrakar pushed Mumbai to an above-par 182.

Ecclestone was the Warriorz most effective bowler and finished her four-over spell with 2-39. Indians Parvashi Chopra and Anjali Sarvani took one wicket each in five overs between them. The five-team WPL is already the second most lucrative domestic women’s sport competition globally after the US professional basketball.
