Asibi Omeri-Ogabo, the Lady Captain of Lafia Golf Club has revealed that over 250 golfers are expected to converge on Lafia for the maiden edition of the Ladies Open championship holding from September 3-5, 2021.
This development was made known to the press during a press briefing recently by the Lady Captain, adding that the club was holding the first ever championship in collaboration with the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN).
The tournament would feature amateur golfers from across the country who would be competing for mouth-watering prizes in various categories.
“The 18-hole event will witness about 250 amateur golfers who will take to the course from Sept. 3 to Sept. 5.
“The tournament will feature Lafia amateur lady golfers from handicap 29 to 36, while the main competition will feature male and female golfers from handicap 0 to 28,” she said.
For the championship to live up to its billing, the Lady Captain affirmed that the club had already commenced sponsorship drive ahead of the event, adding that other willing sponsors, including private and corporate organisations could embrace the opportunity.
Dignitaries expected at the event include; Sule Abdullahi, the Governor of Nasarawa State and his wife, Silifat Abdullahi as well as his deputy, Emmanuel Akabe and his wife, Mrs. Jummai Akabe; while Mrs, Helen Mark among others is also in the list of expected dignitaries.
