Digital content creators, fashion designers Bandile and Banele Mdhluli, popularly known as Skinnyleague, blew up on social media with their content on TikTok wearing orange inmate uniforms.

The twins’ content is not only for laughs, but to educate their fans about mental health and expose the misconception about ex-convicts.

Skinnyleague shared with the publication how they started doing content in inmates’ clothes.

“The inspiration of pushing content in the correctional service clothes came about while we visited one of our brothers who shared personal insight on the prison life, the dos, and the don’ts,” said Bandile.

“Elevating the mind’s state is a mechanism we’re gifted in and being in the era of social media, we took a look at the platform to see how we can expose the misconception of ex-cons infusing it with our fashion.

“We also incorporate mental health, which is also a key factor in the content we produce,” said Bandile.

The brothers also said that they didn’t think of having their own orange uniform designs as a clothing brand until their fans requested that they start a clothing label.

“Well, it didn’t come to our attention that we could start a clothing brand until the reception was good,” said Bandile.

The twins, from Mpumalanga, are not only TikTok content creators.

They are also the founders of the brand African Dream, which they started in 2018.

African Dream was formed in their pursuit to accomplish their dream and passion for fashion.

They’ve also worked with brands such as Debonairs and Flying Fish.
