People picketed outside of the court, saying rape can never be tolerated, especially towards those with disabilities.

Nomasomi Limako, a community activist and a person living with disability, said she is relieved the suspects were denied bail.

“I am very happy about the verdict and trusting that the law will take its course as the case continues,” said Limako.

“I also hope that people living with disabilities will be more protected in our communities as they are the most vulnerable.”
