Gagasi FM’s DJ Felix Hlophe is known as the funny man! However, he failed to make people laugh when he joked about alcohol.
Felix’s video was shared on social media, where he’s seen in the Gagasi FM studio, explaining how alcohol is the centre of his happiness.
What was meant as a joke turned into a serious matter, with people accusing him of promoting alcohol.
Felix responded by saying, as a comedian, he jokes about anything and everything.
“If you remember well, I started making videos years back when I was jokingly telling people to skip work on Fridays and go to have fun with alcohol. Those who have a sense of humour understood that I was joking. But there were those who mocked me.
“We were created differently as people. That’s a fact that we can’t run away from. For some, it’s easy to recognize a joke, and for others, it’s a different story. And that’s an old video that people viewed their opinions on,” said Felix.
On the comedy shows, the 48-year-old Durban-based comedian is known for telling jokes that include explicit sex.
He believes freedom is a privilege comedians should embrace.
“I can’t say we have no boundaries. But we have freedom. Like I have already mentioned, I joke about anything. On a serious note, I can never encourage people to drink alcohol, given the fact that we have a problem of alcoholics and drug abuse as a country.
“But as a comedian, I can use my freedom to joke about it. It’s a pity some people take my jokes seriously. I’m not encouraging people to be drunkards,” said Felix.
He further said he’s still on a healthy diet to prevent a repeat of what happened in 2021, when he fainted twice in the studio.
