Georgia Oboh, Nigeria’s international lady sensation is interestingly beginning to meet up with the desired regular tournaments that will definitely improve her game tremendously.
This is against the backdrop of her preparations for the coming Aramco Team Series event billed for August 5-7, 2021 at the La Reserva Club, Sotogrande, Spain.
The Aramco Team Series is coming barely two weeks after her scintillating performance, 15th place, at the Santander Golf Tour in Zaragoza, Spain.
Geoffrey Oboh, the caddy/father revealed to SOKOnnect on Monday morning from Sotogrande that Oboh (Georgia) was in high spirits as she has stepped up her training.
“Good morning, we are in Sotogrande and Georgia’s game is in a very good level; she is in high spirit and hopes to play well this week.
“She has played two practice rounds already and has started her third practice round 15 minutes ago, the caddy/father told SOKOnnect.
However, the Aramco Team Series is certainly going to be a “cracker” as the Ladies European Tour (LET) schedule revealed it has star-studded field – the second of its four $1million tournaments.
Expected in the roll call of the field are European Solheim Cup heroes Georgia Hall, 2018 AIG Women’s Open winner, Charley Hull and Bronte Law as confirmed for the three-day event.
Also expected is Solheim 2019 celebrated captain, Catriona Matthew, who is set to use the Aramco Team Series – Sotogrande’s unique team format to run a keen eye over some of her key players ahead of September’s rematch with the US.
The United States representatives are the 2021 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship runner-up and four-time US Solheim Cup player Lizette Salas, who will face stiff competition, with compatrio Alison Lee also in the field; Thailand’s Moriya Jutanugarn, the 2013 LPGA Rookie of the Year, and 2018 LPGA Rookie of the Year, Lindsey Weaver, both competing.
The Aramco Team Series: Sotogrande event is the second Aramco Team Series event to take place this year, following its London debut two weeks ago. It precedes both the Aramco Team Series – New York (October 14 to 16) and Aramco Team Series – Jeddah (November 10 to 12), with the Jeddah event taking place just days after the Aramco Saudi Ladies International presented by Public Investment Fund, being held from November 4 to 7.
Each Aramco Team Series tournament sees 36 captains lead teams of four players, who together compete to shoot the lowest combined score over three days of golf.
Aramco Team Series London champions:
All teams feature three LET players paired through a unique draft system, in which captains choose one player and are randomly assigned another. The fourth member of each team is an amateur golfer – a position open to all golfers in Spain for the Aramco Team Series – Sotogrande through the tournament’s world-first Team Up competition.
