TikTok sensation Grace sparks a stir following ex-boyfriend’s death
Grace Mondlana, popular influencer and content creator, has stirred major controversy online following the passing of her ex-boyfriend, Sipho Zulu.
The ex-lover tragically died in a car crash on June 29, 2025.
Though the pair ended their five-year relationship earlier this year, Grace’s public mourning and heavy involvement in his funeral arrangements have raised eyebrows across social media.
Referring to Sipho as “the love of her life,” Grace revealed she had been deeply involved in the funeral planning, even claiming she covered the full cost of the burial.
She shared updates regularly, including that she was travelling to and from his family home to assist with preparations.
This public display of devotion has drawn mixed reactions, some offering sympathy, while others are questioning her motives and boundaries.
In a twist that further fueled the online frenzy, Grace disclosed that both she and Sipho had moved on with other partners before his death.
Her new boyfriend, she said, even drove her to and from the funeral.
Critics have since labeled her “the chief mourner,” questioning her level of involvement given that the relationship had ended months prior.
What’s more, reports claim Grace took possession of Sipho’s phone while he was in the hospital and later used it to update his social media pages, including changing his LinkedIn profile to include a dove emoji and the date of his passing.
A leaked voice note, allegedly sent by Grace to Sipho’s current girlfriend, added fuel to the fire.
In it, Grace defends her actions and addresses the uncomfortable tension her presence may have caused.
“I just want us to be reminded of him when we think of each other,” she said.
“He didn’t do right by me with this whole situation of us being together, and had I not been a part of the funeral, there wouldn’t have been a funeral at all. That is not what I tell people, to say I paid for everything, because that will bring shame to the family. I hope if I hurt your feelings a bit, that you do forgive me.”
