A section of Hendrik Potgieter Road in Little Falls on the West Rand is showing signs of fracture and motorists are urged to use alternate routes.
SCP Security shared photos of the Hendrik Potgieter near Raceworx KTM showing a large crack in the tarmac.
Hendrik Potgieter Road cracked
SCP Security said “road collapse is imminent”, adding that engineers will do structural assessments

This was confirmed by JRA spokesperson, Bertha Peters-Scheepers, who said assessments should be done.
She confirmed the damaged section of the road falls under the Gauteng Province management, who was unavailable for comment at the time of publishing.
Safety hazard
Meanwhile, Democratic Alliance (DA) councillor Jacques Hoon said the section near KTM on Zandvliet Road in Wilgespruit is a safety hazard.

Hoon said: “The area needs to be demarcated and attended to urgently”.
Residents are warned to avoid the M47 Wilgespruit region in Roodepoort and use alternate routes instead.
Hendrik Potgieter floods
Large sections of Hendrik Potgieter had been flooded earlier this week and severe road infrastructural damages had been reported.

Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson Xolani Fihla said parts of Hendrik Potgieter Road towards Ruimsig were also affected.
At the time, the JRA said it was “working to secure all areas” since their depots had been inundated with calls and reports.
This is a developing story, more to follow.
