uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party deputy president, John Hlophe will be temporarily barred from serving on the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
On Friday, the Western Cape High Court in Cape Town delivered its judgment on the urgent application by the Democratic Alliance (DA) and Corruption Watch, which sought to interdict Hlophe from taking up a seat in the JSC, pending part B of the litigation.

Part B of the application calls for the review and setting aside of the National Assembly’s decision to appoint Hlophe to the JSC, which was met with significant criticism.
His dismissal as a judge followed a JSC finding of misconduct.
