Hon.Segun Sheriff Adesina, the sponsor and initiator of the annual Christmas/New Year SSA Football Competition has announced December 12-20, 2021 as the new date for the competition meant for the 11 Wards of Ibadan Northwest Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The big event tagged: ‘Festival of Football’ designed to carry the youths along will be held at the Federal Cooperative College Playing Ground, Eleyele, Ibadan, beginning from 1:00 p.m. each day, according to a statement made available by the organisers.
Hon. Adesina, who is popularly known as SSA said the rationale behind the competition that began two years ago is to promote unity, peace and development of football in the local government area.
Adding “the competition is also geared towards complementing the effort of our amiable, dynamic and visionary Governor, His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde in the areas of Sports Development and Youth Empowerment”.
Part of the highlights of this year’s event according to SSA include the conferment of honorary awards on eminent dignitaries from all walks of life for their contributions to youth empowerment and sports development in Ibadan Northwest LGA, Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
“International scouts will also be on hand to identify and groom outstanding talents for potential careers abroad, while Individual awards and cash prizes shall be presented to the best player, highest goal scorer and best goalkeeper in the competition”, said SSA.
