IGC Gets New Open Tournament

New annual Golf Open has been added to the event’s calendar of the Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) as Mr. Abiodun Olatunji SAN who singlehandedly donated the club’s administrative building announced his plan to be sponsoring an annual tournament for the club.

The quiet but philanthropic lawyer also known as Bellumi in his addresses during the commissioning that was done by the Governor of Oyo State said he will henceforth be sponsoring Abiodun Olatunji Golf Open every December 29 at the IGC.

Olatunji thanked all the members of the club for cooperating with him to ensure the timely completion of building project, while singling out Otunba Abimbola Davis, Barrister S.I Salami, and Prince Bamidele Abolarin (Super Dee) for commendation adding that they made the job easier for him.

The Senior Advocate however harped on the need for facilities at the club to be seriously maintained. .

O,ther members, including Otunba Abimbola Davis also donated sizable amounts towards this cause.
Meanwhile, after two days of golfing, Sulaiman H. of IGC who plays off handicap 11 emerged winner with 80 gross over 69net, as Oyome Evelyn, also of IGC with six handicap won in ladies category with 81gross over 75 net on count back.

The former captain of Tiger Golf Club, John Dongo, 11 handicapper emerged winner best net in the Past & Present Captain cadre with 83 gross over 72net while Mrs. Tope Alonge that plays handicap 26 won in the ladies’ category of the same cadre with 106 gross over 80 net.

Also at the event was the Popular actress, Bimbo Osin-Ibironke, wife of the immediate past captain of the club, late Ola Ibironke who could not hold back tears while thanking the members of the club especially close friends of her late husband, like the donor of the multimillion naira office complex.

Bellumi and Otunba Abimbola Davis for naming the newly constructed VIP lounge of the club after her hubby.
The widow said “I am full of joy today that my husband is being recognized and appreciated by members of this great club. I thank you all and I will forever be grateful for this honour. And I am happy too that the dream he had for this club is being fulfilled especially with the commissioning of the administrative building which was his idea”.

Other dignitaries at the event included the Captain of the Club,, the Orangun of Oke Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin and his wife, Olori Solape, the Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi who represented the Governor, Semiu Adenekan (DJ Semight), Chief Yomi Salami, Oloye Adebayo Ojo, Otunba Tolu Falayi, Omolaraeni Olaosebikan, Chief Jelili Adesiyan his elegant wife Chief Mrs. Otolola Adesiyan, Mrs. Lizzy Afonja, former Lady Captain of the club as well as other prominent members of the club.
