Chief (Mrs) Bintu Fatima Tinubu, the Iyalode of f Lagos has applauded the organisers of 2023 Golfsixes tournament holding at the Ikeja Golf Club in Lagos for for reckoning with the elderlies.
She expressed her appreciation in a chat with SOKOnnect during the ceremonial tee off of the event on Friday at the Ikeja Golf course, saying the gains of the event must be improved upon to sustain the ideals of the tournament.
The Iyalode, though, participating for the first time since the inception of the tournament, affirmed she was satisfied with the development: “I give the organisers of this event a pass mark for deeming it necessary to put up a tournament as this for the elderlies.”
“All I’ve seen here today is something to appreciate; the quality of the participants speaks volume of the credibility of the organisers: though this is my first time to participate in the event, I want to say, like what I’ve seen,” she enthused.
However, the Iyalode did not conclude without a word of advice for the organisers on the way forward: “Let me use this opportunity to encourage the organisers not to relent on their oars, but should improve on the success of this edition; let the next one be better than this in order to maintain the integrity of the game.”
She added on a lighter note introducing herself as a “quiet person,” admonishing the event should be expanded to other golf clubs ostensibly for more participation even as it is presently being organised on zonal basis of Lagos and Abuja.
Recall that the first edition of Golfsixes was launched in 2021 at the Ikeja Golf Club in Lagos as the 2023 edition will be concluded on Saturday September 30.
