Singer 3steps said after he was found by rapper Jub Jub on social media, things have been looking better in his music career.
The singer and songwriter from a small town called Amsterdam in Mpumalanga said he is happy that social media platforms have the power to change your life.
The singer, whose real name is Zethembe Nkosi, released his song on Friday, 21 October.
“Ngyaz’fela is a song that features Sas and Jub Jub. It was produced by Nomfundo Moh’s producer Naxion Cross,” 3steps said.
The singer said Nomfundo linked him up with the producer.
“I already made the instrumental and gave it to Naxion Cross. I did a hook and a verse. I felt like it would be nicer if the hook was done by female vocalist Sas. I texted and sent her the song, she loved it,” he said.
The singer said he then went back to the studio the following day and they made it happen.
“I posted it on TikTok, the video started trending. Jub Jub saw it and he posted it on Twitter. He said he was looking for me regarding the song. We linked up,” 3steps said.
The musician said Jub Jub took a flight from Jozi to Durban.
“We went to the studio, and we nailed it. This was the best studio session ever. It was very fun, he’s such a cool guy and easy to work with,” he said.
3steps said he had been in the music industry for 10 years, but it was not easy.
“I have been in the come-up corner in such a way that even my producer, someone I’ve been making music with ever since I started, decided to give up after about 10 years of no recognition,” he said.
The singer said he felt like he wasted so much of his time, but then he had hope that one day all would be well.
“Over the past few years I released songs like Mamasita in 2017. It topped the charts on many radio stations like YFM and Ligwalagwala FM,” he said.
3steps said Mamasita had a video that played on Channel O, and it was followed by another song titled Le Summer in 2019.
“It became the one of the biggest songs in Mpumalanga, when I performed it that side everyone used to go crazy. That’s how I knew my time was coming, but then I decided to take a break and focus on my education because I felt like I was putting so much work but wasn’t getting the recognition that I deserved,” he said.
He is in his third year of studies for a Bachelor of Education at the University of Johannesburg.
3steps said he is lucky that God sent Jub Jub to his rescue.
The rapper, whose real name is Molemo Maarohanye, said he hunted him till he found him.
“He is a brilliant boy, and he has got talent. I really enjoyed working with him on this song,” Jub Jub said.
The musician said this song is about love and support for one another.
The Ndikhokhele hitmaker said he is happy that it was well received.
“The people are already madly in love with it. We are happy with how it was received so far,” said Jub Jub.
