International musician Kelly Rowland set foot on South African soil once again recently as she continued to share her love for the country in collaboration with Brutal Fruit.
A press conference was held for the media in Sandton last week, in which Rowland shared wise words about what she has learnt from her career, advice for women and female empowerment.
Kelly Rowland’s love affair with SA
Lighting up in a bedazzled orange jumpsuit, Rowland radiant the room with her presence and infectious smile. The presser was hosted by award-winning actress and presenter Thando Thabethe.
Rowland glowed when she talked about South Africa, and how much she loves the people, “the accents, everybody is so warm, I love the soul of this country is so beautiful and the culture”.
Rowland said she had the “chills” describing her connection to the country as the reason she keeps coming back.
The star said she now wants to experience the entertaining side of Mzansi, the “dancing” she says, and the groove part of what SA is known for.
Having collaborated with artists such as David Guetta, Nelly, and African artist Ayra Starr. When asked who she would like to work with a local artist, her answer was simple, “Cassper, his performance and energy, I was like woah”, she is holding the door open for a possible collaboration.
A working opportunity Cassper Nyovest is open to, as he shared his excitement on his social media platforms.
Brutal Fruit campaign
Rowland’s trip to SA was to promote the spritzer Brutal Fruit’s campaign, You Belong.
You might have seen the adverts all over social media and television screens for the last couple of months, it shows Rowland with influencers with different shades, ethnicity and looks for the ad.
For Rowland the essence of the campaign is reminding women young and old of owning their success, the rooms they or will command, and knowing their worth.

The Motivation hitmaker says female empowerment has been the core of her career, from music, daily engagement, sisterhood from Destiny Child, the highs and lows of wearing many hats, a message they strive for in the campaign and why she was chosen to be the face of it.
Having longevity in the entertainment industry is tough, however, she has managed to evolve from judging in talent shows to more acting appearances. For the mother of two boys, success means learning more than work lie balance but rather “happiness”.
“If it doesn’t bring joy, it wasn’t worth it.” Adding when those moments come they are teachable.
