Popular South African star King Monada has no plans to leave his kasi. The talented songwriter and music producer, who has risen to stardom, is cemented deeply into his roots.
The 31-year-old artist from Limpopo, known for the songs Malwedhe and Lemenemene, spoke to the publication about how he weighs the benefits of his career against keeping himself humble and grounded.
“Dedication and commitment conquer everything. I always believe in the Almighty to protect and guide me. I also have a guardian who has been with me from the beginning, Makwela Albert, who continues to support me. He’s been like the parent everyone wishes for, and I always follow his advice,” he said.
King Monada, whose real name is Khutso Steven Kgatla, attributes his songwriting inspiration to his surroundings.
Asked how he stays connected to his roots despite his growing fame, he said: “I never dream of leaving them behind. They’re my strength. My songwriting comes from my daily experiences and what I observe in real life. So, I’ll never run out of ideas or lyrics.”
In a world where many people focus on material success, King Monada, whose values and music resonate deeply with his audience, said: “My achievements are as a result of hard work. Prayer leads the way, and material things follow. I always contribute to help those in need when and where I can. Living in a rural area is in itself motivation.”
Reflecting on his long and consistent journey in the music industry, the musician shared the secret to staying relevant.
“Consistency is about staying in my lane and not losing focus. That has worked for me. Of course, as a human being, there are ups and downs, but having a mentor for over 15 years has been special. I’m looking forward to what lies ahead,” he said.
