CCTV footage shows her boyfriend throwing her belongings over her mother’s boundary wall, days after she was last seen.

The family of a 48-year-old woman who went missing after allegedly jumping out of a moving vehicle in Phoenix are seeking help in locating her.

Thirumalar Moodley, also known as Michelle, has not been seen since she was picked up by her boyfriend in Clare Estate, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), on 29 March.

Moodley’s 68-year-old mother enlisted the help of Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) after unsuccessful attempts to contact her daughter due to her cellphone being switched off.

She filed a missing person’s report at Sydenham Police Station.

Missing for days

According to the Verulam-based security company, Moodley’s boyfriend picked her up on 27 March, and she was expected to spend a few days at his home in Verulam.

But her friends and family – including a relative she lives with – have not seen her since then.

“Moodley’s family were allegedly informed that she jumped out of a vehicle driven by her boyfriend on Northern Drive in Phoenix, KZN, on Saturday,” Rusa said in a statement posted on the company’s Facebook page.

“They were unable to verify this information or establish why she jumped from the vehicle.”

Clothing and medication dumped

The company says CCTV footage shows the boyfriend parking outside Moodley’s mother’s house in Phoenix on the same day she allegedly jumped.

He then removed a few refuse bags from his car and threw them over the boundary wall.

“The refuse bags contained Moodley’s clothing and medication.”

Moodley had suffered a pelvic fracture from a previous accident and was declared disabled.

Rusa urges anyone with information to contact the company’s operations centre on 086 1234 333.

Another case closed

Meanwhile, a KZN woman who was reported missing after she disappeared from her Trenance Park home while hanging laundry has made contact with Rusa.

Tilisha Ngappen, 25, told Rusa she left home willingly due to a domestic issue and is currently with her new boyfriend in Stanger.

Nagappen’s 55-year-old mother contacted the security company to report her missing on Wednesday, after she was last seen at the washing line at around 5.20am.

Her four-year-old daughter, mother and extended family were indoors at the time.

New boyfriend met on TikTok

“Reaction officers interviewed the family and established that Nagappen had met a Stanger, KZN resident on TikTok, five days ago. [On Tuesday,] the man arrived at the residence in a white Toyota Conquest with NT registration to fetch Nagappen after they both decided to move in together,” Rusa said.

“The Nagappen family objected, and the man left.”

The family also told Rusa Ngappen had previously eloped three years ago but couldn’t confirm if she left willingly or was kidnapped this time around.

In her communication with Rusa, Ngappen said she’ll fetch her daughter after a week.
