LORELAY HOLZENDORFF: NNPC/SNEPCO Junior Tennis Champion Wants To ‘Be Like’ Serena Williams

Lorelay Holzendorff, a kid tennis player is arguably a promising star in the making if her current scintillating performance on the court is anything to go by.

A German-Nigerian, 11, was the winner of NNPC/SNEPCO Junior Tennis Championship which was concluded on Sunday July 31 at the Ikoyi Club 1938 Tennis Court.

Lorelay who defeated her opponent 9-1 to lift the 2022 edition’s trophy, in an interview told SOKOnnect her dream in tennis was to attain the height of Serena williams of America, a 23 grand slam heroine.

“I love tennis very, very well; I’m training very hard always, because my dream is to be like Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal in the future,” she said.

However, the German preteen girl with a Benin mother, an athletics coach from Edo State, the father a German, is also an athlete with an enviable record at the junior level.

Lorelay preparatory to the NNPC/SNEPCO Championship, won an Under 12 MTN Tennis Championship; won another Under 12 Azimuth and South South Championship in BeninCity.

In athletics, at seven she won under 10 event; she participated in a 10km marathon race in Owan, Edo State; 10km Okpekpe marathon; Lagos marathon; Onitsha marathon 21km among others.

The mother, coach Pat, commenting on Lorelay’s progress said, “I’m very ready to stand by her to any level, because she a brunch of Talent; with God keeping us alive, she will surely achieve her dreams.” she concluded.
