If you watched Trevor Noah’s latest Netflix comedy special ‘I Wish You Would’, then you may have picked up a Skhanda flavour in the show’s soundtrack.

That’s because the soundtrack was created by Lunatik Beatz, the architect of the Skhanda sound that’s synonymous to K.O and Cashtime Life.

“Working on the soundtrack included a lot of back and forth,” Lunatik tells SlikourOnLife. “The main thing was to give the soundtrack a proudly South African feel. I assumed ‘piano since it’s hot right now, but they [were interested in] what I could do with the Skhanda sound & Hip-Hop. I sent that, they loved it and it fit perfectly.”

The music for the show was created by George Avakian who Lunatik credits for the opportunity. “He didn’t tell me what it was for when he wanted me to submit the music,” says the producer.

‘I Wish You Would’ is the latest stand-up comedy special from the US-based South African comedian and it launched on Netflix on 22 November.

Netflix describes it as follows: “Emmy-winning comedian Trevor Noah talks learning German, speaking ill of the dead, judging people in horror movies and ordering Indian food in Scotland.”
