Today marks the 7th year since former Teargas member, Ma-E dropped his debut solo album, ‘Township Counsellor’.
The project explores various subjects such as the township lifestyle, social issues, relationships, and the struggle for success.
Throughout the album, Ma-E showcases his lyrical prowess and signature flow by transitioning between English and various South African languages.
‘Township Counsellor’ consists of a diverse sound and themes that make it accessible to a broader range of listeners. The 15-song project includes contributions from the late AKA, Flabba and Pro, as well as K.O, Kid X and more.
One of the standout songs off of the album is ‘Lie 2 Me’ featuring AKA which highlights the topical issue of trust within relationships. Another noteworthy track is ‘Ke Summer’ alongside Maggz which is a celebration song for the South African summer season and various festivities that take place around that time.
Overall, Ma-E delivered a powerful and impactful body of work as the critically acclaimed album quickly became a fan-favourite and solidified his position as a respected artist in the South African music industry.
