Mia is the second beauty queen to withdraw from the competition this year.
Miss South Africa 2024 Mia le Roux has officially withdrawn from the Miss Universe competition due to health concerns.
The Miss South Africa Organisation confirmed the news in a statement released on Friday morning.
“It is with deep regret that we share the news that Mia le Roux, Miss South Africa 2024, has had to withdraw from the Miss Universe competition due to health concerns,” the statement read.
le Roux expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support from South Africa.
She said the decision to leave the competition was difficult, knowing the dreams and hopes placed upon her.
She added, “However, I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to focus on my health and recovery so that I may continue to serve my country with full strength.”
The Miss South Africa Organisation has expressed full support for le Roux, emphasising that her health is the top priority.
“Her health and well-being are our utmost priority, and we stand by her side as she takes the necessary steps towards recovery.”

Mia Le Roux is the 2nd to leave the competition this year
Le Roux’s withdrawal follows another departure from the pageant, Miss Universe Panama, Italy Mora.
Mora was disqualified from the 2024 Miss Universe competition earlier this month after reportedly leaving her hotel without permission.
In her statement, Mora claimed she was preparing for a gala event and was unaware that her actions would lead to disqualification.
Miss Universe officials confirmed Mora’s disqualification, stating that the decision was made after a thorough review by the pageant’s disciplinary committee.
“The disciplinary committee, charged with maintaining the integrity and values of the pageant, conducted a full audit of the matter and, based on the information gathered and reviewed, has concluded that withdrawal is the most appropriate course of action under the current circumstances.
“Confidentiality is a fundamental pillar of any disciplinary process. By protecting sensitive and personal information, we not only ensure fairness and equity in our decisions but also the dignity of all involved… Miss Universe continues to be a platform for inspiration and positive change in the world,” the statement read.
The 2024 Miss Universe winner will be crowned this weekend, on 16 November, in Mexico.
