Most likely as a result of costs, the second update to the now decade old model does without a features offered in Thailand, plus the upgraded 4N16 turbodiesel engine.
Its fourth and all-new generation set to arrive next year, Mitsubishi Motors South Africa has revealed pricing for the facelift Pajero Sport that will see the internally named QF generation out.
From six to three
Introduced in Thailand last year, the second and final facelift to the now decade old Pajero Sport sees the previous six model range being reduced to three with the removal of the Aspire and Shogun special editions.

It therefore means that the unbadged base model continues with the option of rear-wheel-drive or the SuperSelect-II four-wheel-drive system, with the four-wheel-drive only Exceed being the other carryover trim grade derivative.
New inside and out
Still based on the previous generation Triton, the Pajero Sport, whose internal moniker changed from KR to QF at its original update in 2019, gains new 18-inch across all models, a slightly altered Dynamic Shield grille, new front and rear bumpers, and chrome mirror caps as well as door handles.


While the rear facia continues as is from the original revision six years ago, inside, all models get the new multi-function steering wheel from the latest Triton, a black roofliner, standard black leather upholstery and the improved eight-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Spec
On the specification front, all derivatives come standard with LED headlights, a reverse camera, an eight-inch digital instrument cluster, keyless entry and push-button start, an electric driver’s seat, LED daytime running lights, cruise control and rain sense wipers.


Also standard is the following:
- Auto High Beam Assist;
- rear parking sensors;
- telescopic steering column;
- Hill Start Assist
Reserved for the Exceed is a sunroof, electric tailgate, remote engine start, dual-zone climate with rear vents, a surround-view camera system and the new Ultrasonic Mis-acceleration Mitigation System.
Off-road tech
Besides the SuperSelect-II system, inclusive of a low range transfer case and locking rear differential, all four-wheel-drive models receive Hill Descent Control as standard, along four off-road modes; Sand, Gravel, Mud/Snow and Rocks.
For the low range system itself, the usual 2H, 4L and 4H are again joined by the 4HLc and 4LLc settings, both resulting in the centre diff-lock being automatically activated.
As before, the Pajero Sport has a ground clearance of 218 mm regardless of the drive wheels, a tow rating of 2 700 kg for rear-wheel-drive models and 2 850 kg for four-wheel-drive versions, an approach angle of 30-degrees, breakover of 23.1-degrees and departure of 24.2-degrees.
No new engine
Up front, and unlike in Thailand, the upgraded 2.4-litre 4N16 turbodiesel engine from the Triton has eschewed for the venerable 4N15 that makes 133kW/430Nm.
This also means the retention of the older eight-speed automatic transmission rather than the new six-speed automatic, again across all models.
Price
Now available, the final update to the QF Pajero Sport’s sticker price includes a three-year/100 000 km warranty plus a five-year/90 000 km service plan.
