Nadia Nakai on AKA’s death – ‘I was on suicide watch’

Nadia Nakai on AKA’s death – ‘I was on suicide watch’! Well-known Zimbabwean-South African rapper Nadia Nakai broke down over the death of her boyfriend, rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, popularly known as AKA, on an episode of Young, Famous & African season three, which released on Netflix on 17 January.

Ghanaian singer Francine Nyanko Koffie, popularly known as Fantana, paid Nadia Nakai a visit on an episode of Young, Famous & African, where she hinted she thinks she may be pregnant.

While the two stars were talking, Fantana asked Nadia if she was okay, to which the Naaa Mean hitmaker responded saying she needed to go to therapy.

However, she explained that she has too much to unpack.

“It’s difficult, just maneuvering life, you know? Low-key I’m not fine, and I know I need to go to therapy. But I don’t see that happening any time soon… I just have too much to unpack,” she said to Fantana.

In her confessional session, she revealed that she tells people she is fine because she doesn’t want them to worry. She went on to say that she does feel okay, until she is alone.

“My person is gone. So, it’s difficult. After losing Kiernan I like to tell people that I’m fine because I don’t want to worry people. And I feel like I’m okay to a certain extent until I’m alone,” she continued.

Nadia went on to reveal that her friends who do their best to ensure that she wasn’t left alone.

South African actress Khanyi Mbau then came to Nadia’s place to check if she really was okay.

“So it just felt like I needed to get on a plane and see for myself if she is really okay,” said Khanyi.

“The hunch I had was right. She is literally hanging on by an eyelash, and she isn’t okay,” she continued.

Nadia then broke down again as she explained that AKA’s mom, Lynn Forbes lived with her for a month so she wasn’t left alone. While her friends would keep her on “suicide watch.”

“A lot of people don’t understand how I’m alone a lot of the time,” said Nadia.

“Kiernan’s mom literally lived with me for a month to just make sure I am not by myself. I couldn’t do it, I was on suicide watch and then there was the day where I actually was by myself. I realised that I can’t sit in this house I have to work,” she continued.
