Senator Rochas Okorocha, representing Imo West Senatorial District on Monday asserted that “there is nothing like Police brutality in Nigeria as it is believed in some school of thoughts.

The former Imo State Governor speaking during the declaration of his presidential ambition in Abuja affirmed: “There is nothing like police brutality; there are only youths brutalising youths.”

He made the statement in reference to a conversation he had about the EndSARS protest by Nigerian youths in October 2020 as a result of “Police brutality.”

The protest tagged EndSARS shut down Nigeria for weeks as youths called for the reform of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

The All Progressive Congress (APC) party chieftain, it would be recalled has on many occasions contested for his party presidential ticket but has been failing.

Incidentally, while Senator Okorocha was declaring his ambition to run for the presidential race, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed charges of corruption – N2.9 billion – against him.

Senator Okorocha however, during a political programme on a national television on Monday denied the allegations saying, “it’s political witch hunting.”
