Okowa Drums Support For Nigerian Athletes

Nigerians have been enjoined to desist from dwelling on the nations performance at the just concluded 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Chief Tonobok Okowa President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) stated this today in Asaba during a Press Briefing.

Chief Okowa said the nation should rather focus on ways on improving in it’s performance at the Olympics stressing that the continued disparaging remarks would not help the athletes.

According to the AFN President the nations athletes have since moved had and are focusing on the next Olympic Games in Paris France with the aim of doing better than they did in Tokyo.

He said to this end Nigerians should remain supportive of the athletes, especially those who will be flying the nations flag at the forthcoming World Junior Under-20 Athletics Championship taking place in Kenya.

He said the athletes have been in camp in Asaba and have now arrived Abuja enroute Nairobi Kenya..

Chief Okowa who is also the Executive Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, averred that the athletes will depart Abuja for Nairobi on Sunday asserting that they have been well prepared by the Coaches as well as taking their out of competition test and the COVID-19 tests.

He assured that the athletes will not disappoint the nation at the Championship while urging the people to continue to pray for the the athletes.
