Imole Sports Entertainment, the organiser of the annual Oyo Sports Quiz has confirmed June 16, 2022 for this year’s edition of the extracurricular programme designed for both private and public secondary schools in Oyo State.
According to the CEO of the firm organising the event, Ibraheem Oladimeji, who is a Yoruba Sports presenter, more schools have signified interest to participate in the sports quiz introduced to expand a student’s knowledge and exploring thei,r new skills at an early age.
The distinguished sports analyst who also works with Fresh Fm, Ibadan disclosed that the program has had positive impact on the students from about 20 schools that took part in the first edition held in 2021 where Glorious Secondary School from Amuloko, Ibadan emerged winner, while King Jozzy Private School Aba-Ode and Madibo Islamic Schools were second and third runners up respectively.
While explaining the rationale behind the event Oladimeji explained that “besides the obvious academic benefits of expanding a student’s knowledge and exploring new skills at an early age, quizzes redefine the education system in significant ways.
“Quizzes especially on sports are interactive platforms where students are not participating to take home a prize or get famous overnight, but to gain knowledge, seek opportunities to excel beyond academics and secure their future. It’s also Changes scope of learning, since questions are based out-of-syllabus and require critical thinking and extensive research”, Said Oladimeji
