Oskido’s latest EP ‘Listen to the Kids’ features young talent, which explains the title. Amapiano artists such as, among others, Nkosazana Daughter, Ze2, Toss and Young Stunna make appearances. Stunna is featured on the remix to ‘Banky Banky’ alongside Niniola who appeared in the original version of the song released last year.
On production, the dance music legend recruited X-wise Beats, Deep Sen and King Talkzin. Listen to the Kids is a showcase of different strains of amapiano from soulful to techno and even sgija.
Oskido’s whole thing has always been to work with new talent which led to him, in the 90s, co-founding Kalawa Jazmee Records which has catapulted the careers of Boom Shaka, Bongo Maffin, Busiswa, Nokwazi and countless others. Working with young talent is one of the main reasons Oskido has enjoyed a longevity many of his peers haven’t.
He has managed to thrive in different eras; from kwaito to house and now amapiano. He had expressed many times his affinity to ‘piano as a genre that is closely related to kwaito, a genre he was highly involved in pioneering.
