Pietermaritzburg residents fed up with rampant crime

Communities in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal are growing tired of empty promises from government.
They say the city is riddled with crime and accuse police of failing to respond effectively.

Residents are calling for a police station to be built in the area to increase police visibility and service delivery.

Pietermaritzburg is regarded as one of the most dangerous cities in the province. The MEC for Community Safety in the province, Sipho Hlomuka, visited the area. He said the department has invested R8-million on projects that will improve services.
