Prince Kaybee laments about the pricey data sub

Prince Kaybee has sparked a fiery conversation on social media after publicly airing his frustration over the cost and speed at which mobile data runs out in South Africa.

The award-winning producer didn’t mince words when he posted on X (formerly Twitter) on 1 July 2025, questioning the value South Africans are getting for their money.

Specifically naming Vodacom, the Gugulethu hitmaker tweeted:

“Vodacom Data runs out like milk in Weetbix. And it’s ridiculously expensive, will we survive this life?”

And its ridiculously expensive, will we survive this life?

His comment struck a nerve, prompting thousands of users to join in with their own experiences of overpriced, short-lived data.

Fans agreed in droves, with many noting how common it is to buy expensive bundles that barely last a day.

Some echoed sentiments about switching networks, while others called for the Consumer Commission to intervene.

Prince Kaybee joins a growing list of local celebrities who’ve publicly called out South African mobile service providers.

Earlier this year, both Cassper Nyovest and Nadia Nakai used their platforms to complain about similar issues, complaints that often result in a quicker response thanks to their large followings.
