PS Charges Bayelsa Youths On Sports Participation

Mightyman Aye Dikuro, Permanent Secretary (PS) Ministry of Youth and Sports Bayelsa State has advised youths of the state to engage in sporting activities to improve their wellbeing.
The PS who spoke exclusively with SOKOnnect during a Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) of Nigeria tournament in Yenagoa, the State capital recently affirmed that sport and education are key to the development of a people.
“My advice for the youths of Bayelsa State is that they should take advantage of the sporting facilities in the State as HSD Golf and Country Club, alongside education to improve themselves.
“Sport is the only endeavour in life that you don’t need to be educated to participate in it even as education is very important; all you need is your physical strength, talent and skill to become great financially and otherwise; while a street fighter would be jailed for injuring someone, a martial artist would be honoured for doing same in the ring and becomes a millionaire,” he emphasised.
Against this backdrop, the PS added that Bayelsa youths, particularly those in the catchment areas must take advantage of the HSD Golf course to become great golfers in the nearest future. 
He however demystified the impression that golf is for the elites saying, “Yes, golf is elitist sport, but you don’t have to be rich to play golf, yet you can play golf and become rich; everyone is free to play golf no matter the status; from the caddy rank, they can grow and achieve their dream.”
on the the benefits of the HSD Golf and Country Club commissioned February 2021 so far the PS enthused, “Some persons have been employed in the club which is one of the benefits of having sporting facilities as HSD Golf and Country Club; there’s also a hotel here, which means people can also come here for tourism from within and outside the country.”
Concluding, the PS commended the State Governor, Douye Diri, for building on the State’s sporting structures on ground as it translate to the improvement of the socioeconomic and political development of the state going forward.
