Psychometric Award: Education Stakeholders Commend IPC Over Support For Students
The leadership of Polytechnic Students Union and the Rector of the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osorua, Dr. Moses Umobong have commended the International Psychometric Centre (IPC) Ibadan for encouraging students that comes out top in Psychometrics examination.
The examination was organised for polytechnic and colleges of education students in the country with cash award.
The appreciation of the body was revealed according to the Corporate Affairs Manager of IPC, Patience Udoh during the presentation of a N100,000 worth of scholarship award by the International Psychometric Centre, Ibadan to Mr. Victor Nkodi, an HND one student of Department of Electronics and Telecommunication, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osorua who emerged best in the recently held Psychometrics examination.
Nkodi is the second recipient of the IPC award which was given following a training which involved 100 selected students of the Nigerian polytechnics and colleges of education.
The National President of the Polytechnic Students Union, Comrade Oladere Benedict in his reaction during the presentation thanked the IPC center Ibadan for introducing the online course to the schools’ curricular and National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) for the full accreditation the course.
“We initially wanted to kick against it but we later found out that the course is very beneficial to the Nigerian students if the course gets embraced and applied to working mentality, it will shape the mode of thinking of the students”, said Comrade Oladere.
The Rector, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Dr. Moses Umobong thanked the Chairman, board of trustee, of the International Psychometric Centre, Ibadan, former Head of State, retired Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar for coming up with such a good concept tailored towards appreciating the good efforts of the students taking the course.
He added that his student could compete favourably anywhere, saying “we are not training fools here, this development has gone to prove that we train student that can compete favourably with their peers in any field of their endevours”.
