Following mounting public pressure, President Cyril Ramaphosa has finally appointed a new board for the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).

In a statement on Tuesday, the Presidency said Ramaphosa had appointed 12 non-executive members of the board for a period of five years in terms of section 13(1) of the Broadcasting Act.

The president designated Khathutshelo Ramukumba as the chairperson and Nomvuyiso Batyi as the deputy chairperson of the SABC board.
The following members will serve on the new board:
- Dr. Renee Horne;
- Adv Tseliso Thipanyane;
- Mr Khathutshelo Ramukumba;
- Ms. Nomvuyiso Batyi;
- Ms Phathiswa Magopeni;
- Ms. Aifheli Makhwanya;
- Ms Magdalene Moonsamy;
- Ms. Rearabetsoe Motaung;
- Mr. David Maimela;
- Mr Dinkwanyane Mohuba;
- Mr Mpho Tsedu; and
- Ms Palesa Kadi.
