Real Madrid are on the verge of securing the services of highly-rated young defender Dean Huijsen, marking another significant investment in the club’s long-term future. The Spanish giants have reportedly reached a full agreement with Juventus over the transfer fee, while the player’s representatives are currently in Madrid to finalize the personal terms of the deal.

According to renowned football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who reported the development on Thursday via X (formerly Twitter), Real Madrid will activate Dean Huijsen’s £50 million release clause. The payment will be made in three structured instalments, making it a financially strategic move for Los Blancos.

“Understand Dean Huijsen’s camp has landed in Madrid to close the deal with Real,” Romano confirmed. “Deal done club to club for £50m clause to be paid in 3 installments, player’s contract being sorted.”

Negotiations are now focused on the duration of the contract, with a five-year deal currently being discussed. Should the agreement go through as expected, the deal will reflect Real Madrid’s continued emphasis on signing elite young talent to build for both the present and the future.

Dean Huijsen, a towering centre-back known for his composure on the ball, aerial dominance, and tactical intelligence, has been on the radar of top European clubs. However, Real Madrid have moved swiftly to secure the Dutch-born defender, who currently represents Spain at the youth level. His dual-nationality status and versatility have only added to his appeal, making him one of the most sought-after young centre-backs in Europe.

Huijsen joined Juventus from Málaga in 2021 and quickly rose through the ranks, impressing with his performances for both the youth sides and Juventus Next Gen (the club’s B team). His displays earned him a debut for Juventus’ senior squad in the 2023/24 season, further elevating his reputation.

At just 19 years old, Huijsen is seen as a player with massive potential. He possesses the kind of physical attributes, technical skills, and game-reading ability that Real Madrid value highly in defenders. His style has often been compared to that of former Real Madrid and Spain captain Sergio Ramos — commanding, aggressive, and calm under pressure.

The acquisition of Dean Huijsen fits neatly into Real Madrid’s ongoing strategy of building a core group of talented young players. In recent years, the club has successfully signed and developed stars like Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Arda Güler, among others. The aim is clear: secure world-class potential before the market inflates their value and allow them to grow within the Real Madrid environment.

Florentino Pérez and the Real Madrid board have shown a consistent willingness to invest in youth, and the signing of Dean Huijsen continues that trend. By locking in a five-year deal, the club ensures they will have control over Huijsen’s development for a critical stage of his career.

Furthermore, with long-term defensive planning in mind, Huijsen could eventually become a key successor to the likes of David Alaba and Antonio Rüdiger. As Real Madrid look to maintain their competitive edge in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League, building a solid foundation at the back is crucial.

While the contract length is still under discussion, the fact that Huijsen’s representatives have traveled to Madrid to finalize terms indicates that a formal announcement could be imminent. The move is expected to be completed once personal terms are agreed upon and medical checks are conducted.

Should everything go according to plan, Dean Huijsen could join Real Madrid in time for preseason training, giving him the opportunity to integrate with the squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. Depending on the plans of manager Carlo Ancelotti and the club’s technical staff, Huijsen may either be integrated directly into the first team or initially given playing time with Castilla (the reserve team) or on loan, similar to the path taken by other young signings.

Regardless of how soon he makes his debut at the Santiago Bernabéu, it’s clear that Real Madrid view Dean Huijsen as a central figure in their future plans. The coming weeks will confirm the details, but all signs point toward another high-potential star joining the ranks of Europe’s most successful club.
