The 2021 For The Love Of Golf Charity Tournament may have come and gone by December 11, 2021 but the memories linger on as the participants came, saw and conquered.
Recalled For The Love Of Golf Charity Tournament is not a tournament for title competition, but simply for charity drive to raise funds for the needy – the helpless Paediatric Cancer patients especially – the special class of humanity for which the tournament debuted in December 6, 2020.
Yet, golfers will always be golfers as the participants of the second edition of the event did not disappoint in displaying their talents and skills on the course on the final day with former Ikeja Golf Club Captain, Ajibola, stealing the show on the day; Chichi Alamu proved age is just a number, but golf is for all as she dusted the ladies affair and preteen Destiny Oyero was ever present to herald his future ambition in golf.
But most importantly, this onerous charity event lived up to its expectations when in this edition it went beyond donating items for the Paediatric Cancer Ward of Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) to adding destitutes from Ophanage home, Tripple G, also in Lagos.
The joy of appreciation and satisfaction was visible on the faces of the beneficiaries from LUTH and the Ophanage home, Tripple G, as their representatives were on hand to receive the items; the development got participants into a talking point on the inclusion of the orphanage.

Against this backdrop, Mr Ayo Aderiwale, a captain of industry based in Lagos, Nigeria believes it was heartwarming to have some people as epitomised by Dr Adesola Falaiye, the initiator of ‘For The Love Of Golf Charity Tournament,’ remember their history and give back to the society that made them as giving to the needy is cultural in Africa.
Thus, Aderiwale posited that while it was advisable to maintain the initial objectives of the pet project on Paediatric Cancer patients, it was also not abnormal extending the gesture to the destitutes as their predicament is by sheer fate.
In this regard, Aderiwale summarised Dr Falaiye as: “a LEADER” with rich cultural background and taking a positive advantage of it for the good of the society, by reaching out to those who definitely cannot pay back and it’s a welcome development that everyone who cares for the needy should support.”
Busola Ladipo, the Lady Vice Captain of Ikeja Golf Club applauded Dr Falaiye head-on saying, “This second edition of For The Love Of Golf Charity Tournament is a huge success; it’s an improved event of the first edition; it goes to show that the organisers have done their home work properly for what the event stands for; well attended and well organised.”
On the extension of the initiative to the destitutes the Vice Captain did not mince words to say, “I’ll advise that the organisers, led by Dr Falaiye concentrate on the Paediatric Cancer patients they started with; it will help them to be more focused and achieve better results without distraction.”

The Vice Captain, invariably was quick to appreciate the magnanimity of Dr Falaiye as she in one sentence described her as a “GO-GETTER,” while calling on other public spirited individuals to key into the project she believes has a brighter future.
The above position was also shared by Joy Ayonote who viewed Dr Falaiye as an “OUTSTANDING” personality with a very positive drive; Ayonote believes the initiative should be strongly supported by all who desires a better place for the needy.
Ayonote who poured encomium on Dr Falaiye for the charity initiative also believes, “Care for those afflicted with cancer should not be a yearly affair, it should be at regular intervals, at least quarterly, because the disease can be terminal and the treatment is damn expensive.”
“This is why the initiative of Dr Falaiye becomes very imperative for everyone to support it; I also believe that supports can come by way of providing logistics, manpower – trained personnel for the hospitals to be well equipped, rather than giving only money for buying of just drugs.
