DStv Premiership rookies Richards Bay FC have bolstered their squad with the signing of Kenyan international winger Ovella Ochieng, who joins the club for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

Ochieng joins Vasili Manousakis side after a short-spell with Botswana side Township Rollers. Before joining Rollers, Ochieng was with Marumo Gallants, but did not feature for the DStv Premiership outfit as he was not registered.

The Kenyan-born winger also had a spell in Sweden, where he played for Vasalund for three years.

“We are delighted to announce the signing of Kenyan international winger Ovella Ochieng. Welcome to Natal Rich BoyZ Family,” the club wrote on their official Twitter handle.

The 22-year-old Ochieng will be looking to have a smooth career in South Africa with the Natal Rich Boys, with his stint with Gallants having ended on a sour note after he took the Limpopo club to Fifa for failing to pay his compensation.

The winger ended up getting his monies from Gallants after the Fifa ruled in his favour.

Joining Richards Bay, Ochieng has signed with a club that has been very impressive since the beginning of the season, surprising many by going almost half way of the season sitting in second place on the league standings.

They are just five points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who are on 28 points, while the KZN outfit have 23 after 12 and 13 games respectively.

Ochieng will be looking to hit the road running with Richards Bay, where he will be competing for a place in the starting line-up with the likes of Sanele Barnes and Moses Mthembu to mention a few.
