Leon has mastered the art of political storytelling, and he is the kind of political animal and diplomat that they just don’t make any more.
It would take a brave president to ask the former DA leader to step up and fill Ebrahim Rasool’s shoes in Washington.

Leon also understands the nuance of the insult and notes disdain subtly enough to make the butt-end of his comments come back for more. Again, it takes a brave president to fish outside of the current pool of cadres and soft-living cronies.
None of them can plaster a pothole, let alone measure up in geopolitical heavy lifting. Mr President, there could hardly be a better choice as our man in Washington DC than Leon.
He can be both an evangelist and a tough opponent around any boardroom table.
The White House may have Trump, but if it’s Leon in Mzansi’s camp on Pennsylvania Avenue, South Africa may just have a winning hand.
