Sam Deep Drops Music Video For His Latest Single ‘Thokoza’

The young and talented Amapiano producer Sam Deep and the Durban-born up & coming Amapiano vocalist, MaWhoo take a walk together into the caves to give thanks to the ancestors in their latest music video for the song that has made its waves in the Amapiano space since its release in August 2022.’Thokoza’ is a term synonymous with the acknowledgement of Ancestors in the African culture. This is a common theme in the genre at the current moment, there are many releases recently that are centered around the acknowledgement of Ancestors.

The slow tempo track which features the sensational vocalist MaWhoo, layered with heavy piano keys, creating a clear cut to what is the genre of the song. The production is evident of Sam Deep’s undeniable sound, this shows his development ad a DJ and producer from his previous project.

Following the music video for his multi-platinum certified single, Kusezo Khanya, the Thokoza music video comes out right before the release of Sam Deep’s highly anticipated project in 2022, Welcome To The Party EP. Sam Deeps represents a new wave of the Amapiano producers to take over this year.

Filmed under the Sudwala Caves in the Mpumalanga province, Sam Deep & MaWhoo took a step further to give a visual illustration of the hit song Thokoza. The video is made to visualise how most tribes in the African culture give acknowledgement to their ancestors, which in the case of the hit song is ‘Thokoza’, it gives a sense of the a warm admiration to the ancestors.

Sam Deep features Durban up and coming sensation Mawhoo on their new single “Thokoza”. This is a typical house / Amapiano song with chant-like vocals from Mawhoo that connect one to their spirit world. Thokoza is a phrase used to acknowledge a higher in play which is why this song connects one to a higher power as it transports you to a place that only the devine resides. Sam Deep is one to watch for the future as he exhibits shades of a truly great producer and artist.
