Murder
Santaco has urged for swift investigation into the murder.
“His untimely death is a devastating loss to our organisation and to the industry at large. Mr. Titi was a committed leader who played a significant role in our ongoing efforts to build a more unified, safe, and professional taxi sector in the province.
“Santaco Western Cape calls for a full and thorough investigation into this heinous crime, and we urge law enforcement authorities to act swiftly to bring those responsible to justice.
“We also call on anyone with information to come forward and assist the police in their investigation,” Santaco said.

Calls for calm
The taxi body has appealed for calm and restraint across all ranks and regions.
“Violence must not be met with violence. We are urging all stakeholders in the taxi industry to remain peaceful and allow due process to take its course. Now, more than ever, we need unity, stability, and discipline.
“We will continue to engage with the relevant authorities to ensure that this matter is handled with the urgency and seriousness it deserves,” Santaco said.
Santaco has extended its heartfelt condolences to Titi’s family, his colleagues within the taxi industry, and all those who knew and worked closely with him.
Soweto shooting
Earlier this month, a fatal shooting in Soweto, south of Johannesburg, was linked to alleged taxi violence and route disputes in the area.
Police spokesperson Colonel Noxolo Kweza confirmed the death of at least three men in the shooting.
Kweza said they are investigating a case of murder.
“The incident is believed to be taxi-related. The victims all belong to a taxi association. All possibilities will be investigated. High-calibre cartridges were found on the scene.
“At this stage, no one has been arrested. However, I can assure you that police are working non-stop to ensure the suspects are arrested,” Kweza said.
