Years after he was first accused of being abusive by his ex-wife Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa, musician Black Coffee has sparked a new conversation after sharing that the accusations continue affecting him adversely.

His tweets came after some musings about mental health that were preceded by the declaration that he is “not okay.”

Black Coffee (real name Nkosinathi Maphumulo) shared a series of images under the heading “men need to know it’s okay” followed by pictures of the phrases “to break down,” “to cry,” “to ask for support,” to be vulnerable,” “to go to therapy,” “to talk about feelings,” “and to not be okay.”

“This is my wish for them,” he added.

No disrespect but I would rather suffer in silence than to ask… Its very painful receiving curses wrapped in a form of love….— Abuti Neo♏ (@NtateNeo) December 28, 2022

I agree only with the last one…crying and breaking down wont solve anything. Man up and go seek for solutions ????— T (@TshiamoDM) December 28, 2022

‘I’ll be fine’

His declaration was immediately met with an outpouring of concern which prompted him to assure everyone that he would be fine.

“Thank you for positive messages I’ll be fine. Going through some of the comments makes one realize why most men bottle things up and some even take their lives, I hope you listen and offer support to men in your lives when they show vulnerability,” tweeted the DJ.

He then addressed the May 2021 claims by Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa that he was physically abusive towards her during their marriage.

“The day my ex accused me of physically harming her, nothing was the same. It has left a heavy void in my heart, a void I can’t shake off. I lost a big part of myself, no court of law could ever fix the pain and shame I still carry today,” he added some time thereafter.

“My late father was abusive, to see her continue to ride that wave as a victim using me and using some of my tweets about it on that swimwear as an activist is quite dark and irresponsible. She knows people who abused her, she must confront them and leave me alone.”

He’s deleted the tweet because he’s not liking the responses. He knows he was wrong. The part I’m saying is the same is if she cheated and had multiple kids with other men while married to him— BrownSkinGirl (@Lioness79457760) December 29, 2022

Didn’t you slap her in front of her guests when she had a party at her home. I didn’t see where she mentioned you in her #16daysofactivismagainstgbv campaign. Women don’t have to have been abused to advocate againts GBV or other victims.— Nnono ???? (@Nnono_D) December 29, 2022

I believe you grootman. Many careers have been destroyed in the name of false allegations of GBV. There are people that are serving time in jail due to false allegations of rape. Keep your head up and keep going higher and higher. ????????????????????????— ????????‍♂️Tebogo⭐ (@Tbg_4Real) December 29, 2022

“I appreciate your tweets and respect all your opinions, however, I didn’t tweet so you can ‘believe me’.

I needed to get this off my chest and I need her to stop making me the face of her GBV campaigns…I’m not the one,” he concluded.

Protection orders and abuse allegations

The DJ was referring to the abuse allegations levelled against him in early 2021 by his ex-wife and the mother of his two children.

At the time, she shared an Instagram video in which she told her followers how she had been protecting Black Coffee for far too long and that he had been physically abusive towards her.

“I have been protecting this man for far too long … this man lied in the court of law saying he went under my arm as tall as he is, knowing very well that he hit me, struck my hand twice and then pushed me out of our marital home,” she said in the since-deleted video where she also accused him of “psychologically messing with her children.”

The video explanation came a month after her attempt at obtaining a protection order against him was unsuccessful.

He categorically denied the claims and has been vehement in his denials of being abusive since then.

Enhle and Black Coffee parted ways late in 2019, with Enhle alleging that Black Coffee was unfaithful during their marriage. It has since been revealed that he had children with other women while they were married.

His recent rant seems to have been triggered by a photo shoot the actress did to commemorate the annual 16 Days of Activism period.

“In the voice of women: ‘my body is my greatest form of protest, as I am not owned !!! It is beautiful in every form and you cannot tell me what to do with it ,or what I have to wear for it to make you comfortable, your abusive nature is not welcome here. I am a being as you are, worthy of respect, as you are, worthy of truth as you are, worthy of protection as the universe intends. I may be covered in your harsh words, lies, wounds and so much more. Here I am, I stand tall in my delicate strength because I AM WOMEN!!!” she wrote in her caption under an image of her wearing a swimsuit covered in words.

The phrases “make another one,” “gold digger,” “heal,” “you leave with nothing,” can be seen on the swimsuit.
