South African socialite and Royal AM boss Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize discusses the ill-treatment and “Congo muti” her soccer players endured in the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo) this past week.
According to the Royal AM boss Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize the game between her club and TP Mazembe, which took place in Congo this week was overshadowed by the ill-treatment by the Congolese club.
City Press reports that Royal AM has called on CAF to dish out harsh punishment to TP Mazembe following the “inhumane and hostile” treatment by their DRC hosts.
“CAF has been babysitting Mazembe for far too long and it is time they were booted out until they treat everyone properly.”
“It was like a movie. I don’t know how CAF could allow something like this. There were people like bushmen, who were n@ked, getting onto the ground and strangling our players.”
“People were sprinkling stuff on our players and there was no way we could have won that game after what we went through, on and off the field,” said Mkhize, adding that when they engaged with the match commissioner from Cameroon, he said there was nothing he could do.”
MaMkhize adds that it’s now up to CAF to act because they cannot let things like this go unpunished as football is about sportsmanship.
“To my surprise, the president of the club [Moïse Katumbi] was there and he looks like a decent businessman, but he allows things like this to happen under his watch.”
The publication reported this week that Royal AM suffered their first defeat in the CAF Confederations Cup, losing 2-0 to TP Mazembe.
