Roast of Helen Zille announced
Former Western Cape Premier and current DA heavyweight Helen Zille is taking centre stage as the next target of the Showmax Roast, happening at this year’s Laugh Africa Comedy Festival.
Known for her bold political takes and a Twitter feed that rarely holds back, Zille has officially accepted the challenge to be roasted by some of South Africa’s sharpest and sassiest comedians.
This isn’t the first time Showmax has brought the fire with a celebrity roast, but having a major political figure like Zille in the hot seat adds a whole new level of spice.
The roast will take place on Friday, 2 May 2025 at the Sandton Convention Centre, and promises a night of no-filter, no-mercy comedy where “no topic is off limits, no tweet forgotten, and no political stance left unexamined.”
While the panel of roasters hasn’t been revealed just yet, the organisers are teasing a comedy dream team.
And if past roasts are anything to go by, fans can expect a night of laugh-out-loud moments, brutal truth bombs, and maybe even a few surprises.
