Nestum reclaims the spotlight with renewed purpose

Zanele Nyakale-Peterson, better known as Nestum, is making a triumphant return to the public eye. At just 15 years old, she captured hearts as a member of the iconic kwaito group Abashante.

Now 45, she remains a household name, thanks to her 15-year tenure at SABC’s Lesedi FM, where she hosts the popular weekday show Imatlafatse.

Reflecting on her journey, Nestum shared her passion for growth both on and off the airwaves.

“I’ve been focused on being the best businesswoman, running one of the most recognized car washes in Mapetla, Soweto—Bigza’s Car Wash. Beyond business, I dedicate myself to being the best mother to my two boys, aged 20 and 10,” she said.

Despite stepping back from the entertainment industry for a time, Nestum is thrilled to return. “I thought I wouldn’t have the interest to come back, but the truth is I still have so much to offer. God and my ancestors played a significant role in guiding me back to the limelight,” she revealed.

With her comeback, Nestum promises to bring something fresh and dynamic.

Recently, she showcased her versatility as an MC at the All White Kwaito Experience, following her performance at The Road to Nkalakatha Mandoza Experience at Soweto Theatre last year.

“These kwaito experiences prove that I’m the last original woman standing in the kwaito music world,” she proudly stated. “I’m unpredictable, and my fans can expect a transformed and exciting version of me.”
